What takes some racers years to accomplish, this month’s Young Racers’ Club winner has done in his first three years of racing. Mason Teague began racing at the age of 16 at Thunderhill Speedway in Kyle, Texas. He grew up around the tracks watching his father race and helping him work on his race car, so it was no surprise that racing was something he couldn’t wait to do. Five years ago his father, Jim Teague, stepped out of his Super Stock and began dedicating his time to help Mason pursue his dreams.
Mason started the 2007 season with a bang, winning several races, and quickly gaining the respect of the other drivers. He ended his first year winning Rookie of the Year and finishing 10th in points standings at Thunderhill. With his rookie year behind him he couldn’t wait for the next season to start. Mason went out the opening night of the 2008 season and won the heat race and finished Second in the feature race. The next weekend he won both the heat and feature races and continued winning races throughout the season. Mason was in a tight chase for the championship in just his second year of racing and ended the 2008 season Fourth in the point’s standings.
During the 2008 off season, Team Teague Racing worked hard to prepare for the 2009 season. Mason continued to display his consistent dominance on the track by leading the point’s race from the second night of the season. He never relinquished the points lead ending the 2009 season winning the Thunder Stock Championship at Thunderhill Raceway.
In 2010, Mason moved up to the A-Line Super Stock class where he won Rookie of the Year honors. As of press time, Mason sits atop the 2011 point standings of the A-Line Super Stock class with seven races left in the season. Well Mason, maybe this $250 gift certificate from our friends at TCI Automotive will help you nab that championship. Good luck!
