Jimmy Denis, Riverhead, NY
Lookout Circle Track readers! Here comes this month's Young Racers' Club winner, Jimmy Denis. We get a lot of YRC entries from all over the United States and even some from Canada. Often times, our younger racers will give us some info on activities and charities that they are involved in outside of the racetrack. But Jimmy Denis has blended the two together nicely. You can find him behind the wheel of the No. 92 Grand Enduro at Riverhead Raceway in Riverhead, New York. "I started racing when I turned 16, but I had no driving experience prior to racing," says the now 18-year-old. "In my first five races I had three Top 10s and a Top 5." Those are some pretty impressive stats, but it gets even better. "My second season of racing was my first full season where I beat out the guy who helped form this division at my track, for my first career victory." (Check out the pic!) In addition to nabbing his first win last year, Jimmy also grew out his hair and then donated it to the "Locks of Love" foundation, a charity that makes wigs for children who have lost their hair from chemotherapy treatments. Jimmy says that he plans on driving another full season at Riverhead, his quarter-mile home track, this year and will race for "Passionately Pink for the Cure" which is a program to help find a cure for breast cancer. Well, Jimmy, to help you with your preparations our good friends at Day Motorsports have a $250 gift certificate headed your way! Congrats!
