Between 16 & 23 Years Old and Like To Race? Then Join... Young Racers' Club Dedicated to Supporting Youth In Racing

Barkley Rowland, Paragould, AR This month's Young Racers' Club winner hails from the northeastern corner of Arkansas-Paragould, to be exact. Say hello to 16 year old Barkley Rowland. Barkley races an E-Mod at NEA Speedway, a quarter-mile D-shaped oval outside Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Malden Speedway, a 3/8-mile oval Northwest of Malden, Missouri.

Barkley had been racing go-karts for 10 years before making the jump to fullsize cars. "We had been racing go karts since I was 6 and we had goals of moving up ever since I started," says the teenager. "We found a deal on a car and it took us a year to get it built so we didn't make a race until really late last year."

The transition from karts to the E-Mod was admittedly a tricky one. "When I started driving I had problems getting the car set up and going through the corner. But after a while I learned how it was done and started to run up front." Barkley has a pretty quick learning curve because to date he has captured three wins behind the wheel of his E-Mod, two at Malden and one at DEA. He also currently sits in the Top 3 in points at both tracks.

"We have done exceptionally well for our first full season," says Barkley. "I have not really ever finished outside the Top 10 unless something broke on the car. We're glad that my learning curve has been really fast."

As far as future aspirations go, Barkley hopes to continue on to a career racing a Dirt Late Model full-time. "Until then I will continue racing locally in my E-mod and maybe move into a full-blown Modified," says the youngster. Well, good luck to you Barkley, and drop us a line on how that career goes.
