This month's Young Racers' Club winner hails from the great state of Texas, Houston to be exact. Mason Mitchell grew up working on his uncle's race cars, holding various jobs from spotter to being a part of the pit crew. Like many youngsters growing up in and around the sport, Mason wanted his chance to drive. So his parents took their income tax return and pooled it with some of Mason's savings and they bought the car pictured here in January 2008. It's a Limited Modified that he runs on the asphalt at Houston Motorsports Park. To date, he has raced it twice and has finished a close Second both times. His driving talent has to be in the genes, Mason Mitchell is a fourth generation race car driver. The 15-year-old is a sophomore at CyFair High School and also plays fullback for the Bobcats football team. Like many young drivers, he wants to race professionally. His next goal is to race a Late Model, which he hopes to get some attention from a team for a ride. He knows how hard it is to make it in racing but takes it one race at a time. He also has some alternatives to a driving career if he doesn't wind up behind the wheel. He says he'd love to be a crew chief, a spotter (preferably for Dale Jr.), or a television sportscaster. Well, Mason as far as the sportscaster thing goes, you're on your own, but where Circle Track can help is with your racing career. To get you started, here's a $250 gift certificate from our good friends at Sunoco.
