This month's Young Racers' Club winner comes to us all the way from the state of Washington. Bonney Lake, Washington, to be exact. Like most YRC members, Samantha "Fast Sami" Taylor has been around cars all of her life and had a father involved in the sport. Her dad put her in a car when she was just 3 years old, and by age 5 she was actively racing.
She started out in the Quarter Midgets in 1995 and quickly began racking up the stats. In her 12 years behind the wheel, Fast Sami garnered a slew of wins and six Quarter Midget Grand National Championships including three in one year.
From Quarter Midgets she moved up to the Ford Focus Midgets, where she continued her success grabbing four wins in her rookie season as well as Rookie of the Year honors at her home track of Grays Harbor Raceway. She followed up the successful rookie season with three more wins in her sophomore season. She was also the first female to win Ford Focus Midget events at Grays Harbor and Yakima Raceways.
After the Ford Focus Midgets came a move to the Sprint Cars. She finished Sixth in her first career Sprint Car A-Main feature (East Bay Raceway) and earned an invitation to the Knoxville Nationals. Currently racing in the ASCS in Florida, Fast Sami can be founded wheeling the Wetherington Tractor Service/Rick Chancy Farms Sprint Car.
