This month's Young Racer's Club winner comes to us from the Sunshine State. Anthony Comparetto has won more than 60 feature races in a career that spans 12 years. Those accomplishments sound like they should belong to somebody much older than 16, but they don't. They belong to the Cardinal Mooney High School Junior from Sarasota, Florida, who goes by the nickname "Campi." The third generation racer got his start in Go-Karts at the tender age of 4. That's right, four years old! It shouldn't be much of a surprise, his father and grandfather were both track champions when they raced.
"Campi" successfully blew away the competition in the Karts earning three championships in six years before moving up to a Legends car in 2002. From the Legends car it was into a truck. In 2004 and 2005, Anthony prepared and tested the truck with an eye on entering the Fastruck Series, a popular series for young drivers in Florida. Again, success was almost immediate. In 2006, he won the Winter Heat II Championship, the 2006 Fastruck Kids Championship, and Rookie of the Year honors. In 2007, Anthony mixed it up with not only the truck series but also the ASA Late Model Series Southern Division. But in 2008, Anthony plans on running the full schedule in the All American Challenge Series at his home track of Desoto Superspeedway in Bradenton, Florida.
On the rare occasion when he is not working on or driving his Late Model he\ enjoys volunteering for Habitat for Humanity. We bet that the $250 gift certificate from Day Motor Sports will go a long way in preparing that Late Model for the AACS. Good luck "Campi," and let us know how you do!
