Denny Hamlin went from weekly racing to a seat in a Cup car in less than two years, thanks to the Joe Gibbs Racing driver-development program. Hamlin won the pole for the November 2005 Nextel Cup event at Phoenix (Arizona) International Raceway, finishing Thirteenth. He had three Top-10 runs in his first five starts.
