A TIG welder usually works better when the tungsten tip is kept in a nice point. Just don't ever grind your tungsten tip on the shop grinder. It will contaminate the tungsten and degrade your welds. Instead, a special grinder (either belt or disk) should be kept in your welding area reserved solely for grinding tungsten. View Related Article
