Over the past few years, serious racers have had a few trade shows they could attend to see the latest and greatest in racing and performance parts and technologies. For 2013, things changed a bit. In 2012, the announcement was made that SEMA had purchased both PRI and IMIS, merged the two shows (keeping the PRI name) and moved it back to Indianapolis from its previous home in sunny Florida.
On a selfish (but not important) note, we were sad to see the show leave Orlando, because it was about 45 minutes from Circle Track's headquarters. But the reality of the situation is the revamped PRI trade show was nothing short of spectacular! Yes, it was cold (single digit temps) and there was snow, but that didn't stop people from coming to Indy. In an effort to conserve some space, I am going to stop writing and let the parts on the next few pages speak for themselves. Here are our show favorites. Be sure to check out www.circletrack.com for extended coverage and all the parts we couldn't fit on these pages.

With the growing popularity of crate engines more racers are turning to pump gas as their fuel of choice. But pump gas contains Ethanol and Ethanol significantly increases the risk of carburetor and fuel system corrosion. Ethanol is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs moisture, which causes corrosion in the fuel system and inside the engine. High levels of Ethanol dilution in the motor oil can lead to increased moisture in the crankcase, thereby causing rust and other corrosion problems. Plus, Ethanol by itself is corrosive to components made of Aluminum and Zinc, like carburetors. Both of these problems are compounded by long periods of storage between uses.
Driven's Carb Defender Fuel Additive is specifically formulated to protect against Ethanol corrosion and induction deposits. Special corrosion inhibitors work to prevent expensive repairs and diminished performance caused by Ethanol-blended pump gasoline and the moisture it attracts. This additive controls combustion chamber residue, plus it cleans and protects surfaces of the fuel system and intake tract. The 8 oz. bottle of additive treats up to 25 gallons of Ethanol-blended gas. For more information call 866/611-1820 or visit www.drivenracingoil.com.

Street Stock Clutch
RAM Clutches for "stock clutch rule" classes give you unmatched performance and durability. RAM's 10.5 inch diameter assembly utilizes a billet aluminum pressure ring with a riveted steel heat shield that provides a durable mating surface for the clutch disc. A 3,000-pound pressure spring provides increased static pressure over stock clutches. Used in conjunction with a RAM six paddle solid hub disc, this combination weighs in at just over 15 pounds. If your rules require a full facing or sprung hub disc, the RAM 300 Series organic racing disc provides the best holding power of any organic disc available and adds only about 2 pounds to the total weight of the set. RAM offers a lightweight 17-pound billet steel flywheel for Chevrolet engines that match the above components. If you are required to use all steel components, RAM offers a similar 10.5-inch pressure plate with a nodular iron pressure ring. This unit uses the same heavier pressure spring for increased holding power. All RAM street stock clutches are completely rebuildable by the factory. MSD is excited to bring a new H.E.I. rev limiter to the circle track world. The all-new Circle Track RPM Control (PN 8727CT) is designed for racers and tech officials alike. It's fully digital operation allows for extra smooth and accurate rev limiting to within a quarter percent of the set value, while eliminating the need for plug in RPM modules, as convenient adjustable rotary dials take its place. A bright LED display clearly indicates the set RPM rev limit and new, easy plug in wiring and connectors allow the unit to plug directly into any H.E.I. style distributor with no cutting or crimping of wires. The 8727CT is epoxy filled making it resistant to the extreme conditions circle track racing presents including water, mud, engine fluids, and, of course, vibration. The epoxy is also in place so that tampering with the internal circuitry becomes a thing of the past. New digital technology also allows the 8727CT to record the highest RPM the engine revved at for a pre-determined amount of time, providing useful information to both race teams and tech officials. If for any reason the unit loses any connection during a race, the engine will lose power and set a fault code that will be displayed on the LED display. X4 Handheld Tuner
Every oval track racer out there owns a truck that they use to tow to the track. And getting better performance and efficiency from that truck means you'll save money on fuel which you can put back into your racing program. That's exactly why you need to take a look at SCT Performance's line of tuners. The company has been on a hot streak the last few years, debuting new tuners for a variety of budgets. One tuner that's gone overlooked just happens to be their best seller—the SF3 pre-loaded tuner and the X3 that's designed to be used with custom tunes. The Livewire received a facelift two years ago with an all-new touch screen color display and it only made sense to make similar updates to the SF3/X3 programmer.
"The X4 will only slightly increase in cost over the current SF3s," says Tim Roi of SCT. "Look for them to hit the shelves early 2014." The new X4 is dimensionally smaller than the SF3 and boasts a full color screen that is much easier to navigate. The OBD-II port remains wired and uses a smaller, Livewire TS-style, plug that connects to the top of the device. Also the X4 will come with a window suction mount and is slotted on the back to lock in place, again, much like the Livewire TS.
One of the most exciting changes is the ease to update the device. Instead of having to connect to a Windows-based computer for updates, the X4 will have integrated WiFi that will allow update through a standard wireless connection. Rounding out the features are two analog inputs, ability to hold 10 custom tunes, multiple datalogging screens, and better navigation with its updated scrolling buttons. For more information, visit www.sctflash.com.

Driveshaft Driven Alternator
Weight and weight placement is critical if you take your racing program seriously. Coleman Racing is always looking to lighten its racing components, and when it can't, better placement of that weight becomes the priority. Accessories like the alternator need to be driven, and in the past the crankshaft was the most efficient way to do this. But that meant the weight of the alternator was traditionally high and on the front of the engine. Coleman recently designed and built a system to mount it on the back of the transmission and drive it with the driveshaft. This puts the weight low and in the center of the car in a much more favorable position. The company also offers kits to mount the alternator to the most quick-change rearends. For more information, visit www.colemanracing.com or call 866-coleman.
Sprint Car Front Mag Drive
