Longarce Racing Products has taken instrumentation to the next level with its new line of AccuTech SMi Gauges. AccuTech SMi Stepper Motor gauges use a small electronic motor to drive the pointer. It's electronically controlled, making it much more precise than the traditional mechanical instrument, whose accuracy can be affected by many factors.
Each gauge has a two-stage warning light system and the two set points are easily adjusted to your needs (oil pressure has three set points). For example, when you set the water temperature for just above normal running temperature, the LED comes on to let you know the motor is starting to get warm. Set the second point at the maximum temperature your engine can tolerate. At this point the LED flashes to attract your attention, possibly saving your motor from damage.
Since oil pressure is so critical, it has three set points. This allows you to set the first point just below normal running pressure. When the oil pressure falls to this level the LED warning light comes on. When the oil pressure falls to the second set point, the LED warning light flashes. At the third set point the LED continues to flash plus the gauge backlight starts to flash. Day or night, it's hard to miss, which allows you to get the engine shut down before it blows up
The gauges are 25/8-inches and have a molded polycarbonate/ABS plastic case which is virtually unbreakable. The thru-the-dial LED backlight make these gauges easy to read and they can quickly be changed from white to blue in color.
For safety, each gauge comes with a high-quality electronic sensor, which is installed on the motor to drive the gauge so that no oil or fuel is in the driver's compartment.
A memory tach is also available, or you can purchase a Data Logging unit that records and stores up to one full hour of information. You'll be able to review rpm all around the track in regular speed, 1/3, or double speed.
