Groom says AMSOIL decided to take an unusual approach with its engine assembly lubricant. Instead of using a grease or a standard oil with a tackifier additive, it uses an extremely high viscosity oil with a smaller amount of tackifier to help the lube stick to metal components while also quickly dissolving in motor oil once the engine is cranked for the first time.
