WISSOTA 100 returns to Dakota

The 2010 Speedway Motors WISSOTA 100 will return to Dakota State Fair Speedway in Huron, SD, according to WISSOTA officials. The decision returns WISSOTA's premier AmsOil Dirt Track Series event to the site that generated the largest crowds in series history. Bobby Hamilton Jr. Buys

NASCAR driver and team owner, Bobby Hamilton Jr. can now add track owner to his resume. The second generation driver has bought Highland Rim Speedway, the quarter-mile high-banked D-shaped oval located about a half hour north of Nashville. Plans are to provide a home track to teams that ran at the now-closed Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville. NASCAR

"Speedy" Bill Smith, the colorful founder and president of Speedway Motors, has just released a new book: Fast Company: Six Decades of Racers, Rascals and Rods. Penned with racing writer Dave Argabright, Fast Company chronicles the more than 60 years and millions of miles traveled and raced by Smith. More than 350 pages cover the many roads "Speedy" Bill has journeyed, from his early days of motorcycle and roadster racing, through the humble beginnings of Speedway Motors, to the dozens of racers who've competed under the Speedway banner. Forst Motorsports, LLC, a financial advisory firm for the motorsports industry, has acquired "National Speedway Directory" from Allan E. Brown. The deal includes and "The History of America's Speedways." Brown, who has been associated with the National Speedway Directory for more than 30 years, will remain as a consultant to the publication. The National Speedway Directory has been published annually since 1975. NSD

$12,000 to 2010 SWDRA Super Late

The Southwest Dirt Racing Association (SWDRA) recently announced that thanks to the addition of a title sponsor the 2010 points championship will be the richest yet. Total Seal Piston Rings will be the 2010 SWDRA title sponsor and the points champion will receive a check for $12,000. Another addition to the series points fund is a contingency award for a brand-new GRT chassis with interior sheetmetal given to a randomly drawn driver finishing in points position 5-15. Drivers must participate in 80 percent of the races to be eligible for any contingency/points fund awards in 2010. The series hopes to announce a full point's fund breakdown very soon and is close to securing contingency prizes for the drivers finishing 2-4 in points. For more information visit SWDRA
