Two nylon screws are used to hold the rotor in place to eliminate the possibility of misfires at high rpm. Notice the notch in the rotor just below the screw. The metal tang sticking out is part of the mechanical advance. This ensures you cannot put the rotor on the distributor shaft backwards.
