 After installing the outer collar, or socket, on the new hose, Lowman marks its position with another piece of tape. If you aren’t careful, instead of biting into the hose the socket can move up closer to the end of the hose when installing the hose end. If this happens you won’t have a strong connection. By marking the end of the collar, you can quickly tell how much it has moved after the hose end is fully assembled.
