Your car is showing the evidence that racing is not a contact sport, it's a collision sport. It started out as the pick at the local mall car show, but now the sponsors aren't coming by as often.
Appearance is important in success, but it's more than just appearance. Five Star has designed a new series of bodies called the "Downforce Body Series," that focus on the aerodynamics. These bodies are designed to maximize the downforce and can be used for competition at tracks and sanc-tions that don't use templates and have few body rules.
The Downforce Series will fit a straight rail or offset-style chassis. The 47-inch roof height is met, and the car can have a tread width up to 65 inches. Universal panels are available to allow the car to be a Monte Carlo, Grand Prix, Taurus, or Intrepid (quarter-panels, head-lights, taillights, and body identification graphics are the com-ponents needed to identify make and model).
The new body series is available in carbon fiber or lightweight panels. The lightweight fiberglass panels are up to 50 percent lighter than standard fiberglass parts. A special "sandwich construction" design provides maximum strength and rigidity for stability at high speeds. The panels are tough enough to take the bump-and-grind punishment of short tracks. Lightweight and carbon-fiber panels require less body bracing on installation.
A complete body kit with windows sells for $1,594. The bodies are in stock, and Five Star offers same-day shipping.
For those who choose to wait until the start of next year, Five Star will be offering all-new redesigned Monte Carlo, Grand Prix, Taurus, and Intrepid body styles for 2004.
