Tire Soak Third Reading Same Tire

Tire Soak Third Reading Same Tire
An indentation-hardness durometer reading can be inaccurate. We read a used tire in three different places and got three different readings. The primary causes of these differences were the residue rubber that was stuck to the tire as well as the pitting that naturally occurs with race tires. Small pieces of rubber attaching themselves to a hot tire surface is a common occurrence when exiting the racetrack after qualifying or practicing. This can play havoc with durometer readings. View Related Article
