"Hydraulic" It Out!
Many times we run up on a pilot bushing/bearing that just won't come out! Here's a technique that has worked very well for me.
First off, be sure to use eye protection! You will need a 6- to 8-inch-long 1/2-inch drive extension and a socket of a given size. Place the socket on the extension backwards. The outside diameter of the socket should just fit the inside diameter of the bushing, use a round or two of rubberized electrical tape around the socket to act as a seal. Next pack the bushing full of axle grease. Then place the socket in the bushing and strike it with a hammer. Repeat once or twice and you will "hydraulic" it right out. Make sure to clean up all of your grease, because clutch assemblies don't like lubricants.
