Drilling TrickAt the first...

Drilling TrickAt the first NASCAR race for the Boss 429 at Atlanta in 1969 I was working for a 'chap' who had a race shop next to the Halifax Shopping center in Daytona. He wanted to move the rear axle. That required new center bolt holes to be drilled in the leaf spring main leaf. He showed me the trick. Put Permatex #2 on the cutting faces of the bit and drill for five or six seconds only. Repeat that and drill for only five or six seconds each attempt and bingo, an easy job. Don't try to lengthen the run time! The trick works well on stainless too.James WeeksLas Vegas, NV
