New DVD Remembers When - Lakewood, NY
Remember when pit fees were $2 and grandstand tickets were $1.25? Yeah, neither did we, but when an advanced copy of Run It. Race It. Roll It Over. arrived in the Circle Track mailbox, we took a look and loved what we saw! The film chronicles life at a typical 1950s-era jalopy track named Roll-O-Bowl Speedway--more obstacle course than racetrack, located between Watts Flats and Panama, NY. Live action film accompanies vintage photographs and modern day interviews with former racers in this slice of Americana long since passed.
The 45-plus minute romp offers a unique look at grassroots racing from 50 years ago, when racing and life in general was much simpler. For more information visit www.chautauquasportshalloffame.org/rollobowl.php or to get your own copy for $30, visit www.harmonyhistoricalsociety.org. Randy Anderson
ASA-Sat Gets Safer - Athens, GA
In an effort to stay ahead of the game in the safety department, the ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour has announced it is teaming up with Fast Track Medical Response for the 2009 season. The program, which is mandatory for all full-time teams and drivers, will offer drivers, crewmembers, family, and friends the ability to purchase bracelets that store lifesaving medical information which can be accessed by each track's emergency medical team. Each bracelet contains a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chip that holds the information. Drivers, crew chiefs, and officials can purchase the bracelets for $39.95 and enter all their information into the system, which keeps all medical history private until it needs to be retrieved. WRG Deregisters Common Stock - Concord, NC
If you were thinking about buying stock in the World Racing Group, Inc., owners of the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars Series, World of Outlaws Late Model Series, and a host of other sanctions across the country, you missed your opportunity. In late February, the company's Board of Directors, and a majority of its stockholders, approved a 1-for-101 reverse stock split. That effectively means WRG will become basically a private company. Citing a lack of benefit of being a public company, the reverse split will reduce the number of stockholders of record to fewer than 300. CT
