New Barbed Wire Roll Set Released
Mittler Brothers Machine & Tool just added to its ever expanding list of metal fabrication tools—the new Gold Series Designer Rolls. Model number 203-BW a Barbed Wire Roll Set for Mittler's Bead Rollers, is the first in this series and a perfect way to add a cool custom touch to your race car's sheetmetal. The Barbed Wire Roll will form patterned barbed wire designs on sheetmetal panels. Designed to fit all 11/8-inch throat MB bead rolls, the Barbed Wire Roll Set has a maximum capacity of 0.050 aluminum. The top roll is Heat Treated and Titanium Nitride Coated for long life while the bottom roll is Urethane. This innovative new series will be doing things with bead rolls that have never been done. Additional rolls are planned and each will feature a different pattern which can be rolled into sheet metal panels using a bead roller to create intricate decorative accents.

C&R Racing Gets Light
Long the cooling system of choice for top level NASCAR, IndyCar and Gran Am teams, C&R Racing has just developed an affordable package for the Saturday night circle track racer! This package features a 36mm radiator, a new design pressure can with sight glass, pressure relief valve (PRV), pressure setting tool with single gauge and Jiffy Tite fittings, all of which can also be purchased separately.
The radiator utilizes a specially developed 36mm core that will withstand higher pressure race environments. While this new core is thinner, it will outperform conventional two row cores and it weighs less. For example, the Dirt Late Model version saves more than 6 pounds of nose weight (wet).
With the C&R pressurized cooling system, the engine can safely operate at higher temperatures, for a longer period of time. On a stock car, more tape can be applied to the grille opening making it more aerodynamic. By utilizing the functionality of the air spring in the pressure can, there is lesser chance of overheating in case of rubber and oil dry build-up, running a leaner fuel mixture or a long caution flag. With today's technology, a pressurized cooling system is more efficient and more failsafe than the customary closed cooling systems that have been around for the past 80 years.

Longer Is Better!
Design Engineering (DEI) now offers Titanium Protect-A-Boots in a longer 8-inch length. The Protect-A-Boots provide maximum thermal protection against heat generated from the engine block, exhaust manifold, and headers. Excessive heat may cause wires and boots to burn, harden or crack resulting in arcing, misfire or full ignition failure.
Constructed from heat-resistant pulverized lava rock material, stranded and woven into a double-wall weave, these durable 8-inch boot protectors are resistant to chemicals, abrasions and contaminants. With the capability of withstanding direct heat up to 1,800 degrees F and radiant heat to 2,500 degrees, they provide effective protection for any high-performance engine. Originally designed for the General Motors LS series of engines, the longer length and no-ring construction provides greater protection for street, race or off-road applications.

Super Affordable Brain Bucket
RaceQuip's new Sport Model Helmet, aka SportMod, was designed for the budget minded racer. The SportMod delivers all the standard features you would expect to find in a Snell SA-2010 certified helmet, except the price. The SportMod retails for less than $190 yet still exceeds the Snell SA-2010 testing requirements. RaceQuip starts with a hand laid fiberglass shell, and then installs its proven expanded polystyrene (EPS) liner material. Next, a blended Nomex interior is fitted to provide comfort as well as a proper fit. The 3mm polycarbonate low fog shield provides great peripheral vision and is retained by aluminum pivot kit hardware. A silicone eye port gasket to keep out dust and dirt, plus Tear-off posts, are standard features on this value-priced helmet. The shell is pre-drilled for head and neck restraint anchors to make installation a snap. Sizes available are XS-2XL and features fire-retardant paint in Gloss White or Flat Black with removable SportMod logos.

PerTronix just announced the availability of their Flame-Thrower HEI Distributors for race applications. These race quality HEIs are available for big- and small-block Chevrolets, Ford small-block, Olds 260-455, and Pontiac 301-455.
According to PerTronix, these units use new components and feature an electronic module and coil combination that optimizes spark energy and peak current to the spark plug in the 6,000 to 8,500 rpm range. Compared to its street/'strip version, PerTronix claims its race only units produce 42 percent more energy in the coil with 46 percent faster spark breakdown time allowing 48 percent more peak current to reach the spark plug.
A specially designed vacuum lockout mechanism prevents timing adjustments that change rotor phasing, adversely affecting the burn time and efficient fuel combustion. Rotor plates are TIG welded to the mechanical advance mechanism preventing high rpm distortion improving mechanical reliability. Each distributor uses a new aluminum housing cast and machined from a h3 but lightweight A384 alloy and are supplied with a high dielectric strength cap with solid brass terminals, a balanced rotor and low resistance center coil brush, nylon rotor hold-down screws and a factory installed high performance mechanical curve kit with precision machined weights and center plate. A hardened machined steel gear is standard with bronze gears for roller cam applications available separately.
