2. Comp Cams Renews Partnership With DIRTCar HP For Upcoming Season
Comp Cams will serve as a major sponsor of DIRTCar HP in 2014, marking the company's fourth consecutive season of involvement with the unique dirt engine builder/manufacturer alliance. The program, of which Comp was a founding partner, provides a direct line of communication between manufacturers and builders to help create better and more cost-effective engine components.
DIRTCar HP includes the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series, World of Outlaws Late Model Series, Super DIRTCar Series, and UMP DIRTCar Summer Nationals "Hell Tour." Since its inception in 2011, the program has grown from an original membership of 200 engine builders to more than 550 at the start of the 2014 season. Throughout the year Comp Cams provides product certificates to drivers and engine builders competing in each of the 200 races across all four traveling circuits. The result is a variety of relationships with racers and builders in every corner of the country.
"We're proud to support the talented teams and engine builders that take part in all of these grueling series," said Comp Cams VP of Marketing, Chris Douglas. "It's a major accomplishment to win a race on these tours, let alone a championship. The passion and dedication that these individuals show is a perfect fit for Comp Cams—a place where similarly driven employees turn out the world's best valvetrain components on a daily basis."
3. Chase Changes
Daytona Beach, FL
NASCAR Chairman Brian France recently announced a restructuring of the points system in its premier NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. The changes to the Chase For The Sprint Cup will result in four drivers battling for the title during the season-ending Ford EcoBoost 400 race at Homestead-Miami Speedway on November 16, 2014.
There will be no points advantage for any of the drivers coming into the Miami race, and each of the four will be on equal footing as the green flag is waved. It's now a winner-take-all affair—the driver that finishes best among the four contenders will claim the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship.
The drivers that compete for the crown will be the four survivors from the field that will now expand to 16 drivers (formerly 12) that compete in the 10-race Chase. The new format now features eliminations after the third, sixth, and ninth races in the 10-race Chase For The Sprint Cup. Drivers that win a Chase race will automatically advance to the next segment.

6. Trussel Adds Central Arizona to Saturday Promoting Chores
Casa Grande, AZ
Seeing an opportunity, Jonah Trussel announced he will promote both the Casa Grande oval and Arizona Speedway at ET Motopark's Saturday night programs this season.
"Because there won't be any scheduling conflicts, we'll be able to have 24 IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified point races between the two tracks," explained Trussel. "IMCA will crown track champions and pay separate point funds based on standings through their season, which ends in late September.
"We will race after that and pay a joint point fund between the two tracks based on those standings," he added.
Opening night at Casa Grande is February 22. Idle for July and August, the former Central Arizona Raceway will host its IMCA championship night on September 20, 2014.
"We are definitely excited about 2014," Trussel continued. "There are opportunities all the way around for everybody. Drivers get to race more often and sponsors are more interested in being involved with two tracks because they get more bang for the buck. It also means we can combine our TV, radio, and newspaper advertising."
