Our first car of the month comes to us from Manchaca, Texas. The #15 car is a Limited Late Model Class Pontiac powered by a small-block 350 with a two-barrel carburetor. It has a stock front clip, and its owner, Terry James, built the chassis.
This striking red and black fire breather is sponsored locally by three companies: Chasco Construction Company, Continental Cut Stone, and Spillar Custom Hitches. On any given Saturday night, you will find it at Thunderhill Speedway in Kyle, Texas.
About The DriverThe driver of #15 is Colt James. At the age of 13, James began racing in Hobby Stock at Longhorn, Texas, where he ran for two years and won a championship in 1998. He moved to Late Model in 1999, and while racing in a field of 22 cars on his second night of competition, he found himself in Victory Lane. For the remainder of the '99 season, young James won seven times.
From The Driver:"I like the car's speed and the way it handles. Since I moved from the Hobby Stock class to Limited Late Model, the speeds are faster (about 2.5 seconds quicker), and the car is lighter, so it handles better. The Hobby Stock car was around 3,400 pounds, and my Late Model is right at 3,150 pounds."
About The OwnersThe owners also happen to be the proud parents of young Colt James: father Terry, mother Cheryl.
The CrewThe all-volunteer crew is comprised of Aaron Jones, Jerry Bernard, and Don Hemphill.
