The area around Gillette, Wyoming is full of natural resources. That large black strip running the width of the photo is a coal vein. Just under the surface, 50 to 70 feet down, lies a large deposit of coal. Other resources that are extracted from the ground include oil, gas, uranium, and precious metals. It is said that if Wyoming were a country, it would be the third largest in the world for its resources.
