Carb Upgrade
Race Demon carburetors are designed for oval-track and drag racing as well as general-performance applications, and are available in two versions: fixed venturi and removable venturi (RS). Models range in size from 675 to 1050 cfm, not forgetting the new 390 RS model, which was recently approved by ARTGO and Southern All-Stars. As direct replacements for the Holley 4150 range, the company says the new carburetors produce more power and achieve higher levels of performance than conventional designs. Breakthrough Carb Spacers
Through computer modeling and dyno-testing, TD Performance Products has developed a new technology called Mixture MotionTM and applied it to its new line of Swirl-TorqueTM Carburetor Spacers. Precision Mixture channels in the ports create a vortex entering the intake manifold. The folks at TD say this twirling action acts like a blender, dramatically improving the air/fuel mixture and atomizing fuel droplets to create a more combustible mixture that improves fuel efficiency and throttle response. Independent dyno-test results show increases of up to 13 lb-ft of torque on a typical street-performance engine. The spacers can also be used on more modified engines. At present, Swirl-Torque spacers are available in 1 and 2 models for Holley and AFB carbs. Contact TD at (800) 500-7414 and mention PN 8569.
Hammerless Carb Stud Kits
Automotive Racing Products (ARP) now offers a carburetor stud kit for easy carb installation. ARP's carb studs are straight and true so the carb slips right into place. They also feature J-form threads to resist loosening from vibration. The kits come in a variety of heights, are available in 8740 chrome-moly with a black oxide finish or in rustproof stainless steel, and include hex nuts and washers. Special ARP Pro Series and NASCAR stud kits are also available. Contact Automoitve Racing Products, Dept. High-Tech Fuel Filters
Canton Racing Products CM Filters flow 90 gallons a minute with no loss of pressure and absolutely no flow restriction. The replaceable synthetic element provides the flow required to eliminate high-speed fuel starvation while giving the necessary filtration needed for the most sensitive fuel systems. The filters are available in 1- and 8-micron ratings with canister, inline and EFI inline styles. Contact Canton Racing Products, Dept. CT09, 2 Commerce Dr., North Branford, CT 06471; (203) 484-4900.
More Power For 23-Degree Heads
Edelbrock introduces its new Super Victor PN 2925 race manifold for small-block Chevys with standard 23-degree heads. Edelbrock claims the PN 2925 delivers more torque at 4,000 rpm for crisp throttle response out of the turns, along with maximum horsepower up to 8,000-plus rpm. With a carburetor pad height of 5 1/2 inches, this manifold works with a wide range of carburetors from 390 cfm on up. The intake runners match the flat-floor entry of the 23-degree heads for improved mixture flow and distribution. Contact Edelbrock Corp., Dept. New Holley Carbs
Holley has added three new carbs to its line of HP Pro-Series carburetors. The additions include 600- and 650-cfm gas versions and a 650-cfm alcohol version. All of these carbs feature straight-leg boosters, stainless steel throttle plates, mechanical secondaries, and adjustable air bleeds that allow for more precise tuning of the air mixture. Holley's high-performance carbs are race-ready out of the box and include a host of features including four-corner idle systems and high-flow power valves. Contact Holley Tech Service, Dept.
