3. Comp Cams has a new line of valvesprings that feature what it calls “Super Polishing.” They have new part numbers, but are basically the same springs (in terms of installed height and strength) with a much improved surface finish. Comp’s Billy Godbold told us that the process removes surface imperfections that are often the root cause of spring breakage. Tests have shown that when the springs are run out of control, the new Super Finished springs can still last up to five times longer than other springs. They are primarily sold for endurance racing engines, but we think this spring can be a real benefit in stock car racing as well.
