One issue with using a Windsor crank in a Cleveland block is the Windsor thrust bearing is 0.010 wider. The smaller main journal size means you can’t use a set of Windsor bearings in the Cleveland block, but Troutman got around this by using the thrust bearing for a 390 Ford. The 390 bearing has a 360 degree groove, so Troutman stuck with Cleveland bearings for the other mains because they have only a partial groove which provides more surface area. View Related Article
