Make sure there is plenty of clearance in the dowel-pin holes after milling the heads. Here, Roberts uses a fixture to help correct the angle of the holes. Decking makes the hole shallower, and if the ends of the head are held up by the dowel pins it can cause cracking in the center when the head is torqued down to the block.
