For racing, a vented iron rotor is best. The vanes are either curved or straight. The curved vanes achieve more surface area than the straight vanes, so the rotor will cool better. A curved-vane rotor will also pump more air through the rotor. The number of vanes, and their thickness, length, and shape vary according to the racer's braking requirements. View Related Article
