Racing Brake Rotors Direct Drive System
The T-bobbin hat design incor-porates a single bolt through a "T" lock that attaches the rotor to the hat assembly. The rotor is clamped tight against the bobbin and the float is in the hat. This design has been the standard at Performance Friction.

The Direct Drive system utilizes a U-clamp (coupler) that is attached by two bolts to the rotor hat. The flanges that are a part of the rotor rest inside the clamps with an initial cold clearance of between 0.006 and 0.010 inches.

Once the rotor heats up, this clearance is reduced, but the rotor is never clamped tightly against the hat. Floating the disc helps reduce rotor warping, rotor hat failure, and brake drag.
